Which side of the bathroom to place radiator?
Comments (26)Hello :) We have now plastered and painted first coat of white paint.. now deciding on the type of tiles.. we like the idea of Moroccon style tiles on the floor.. but as the bathroom is pretty narrow.. having a feature on the wall is a bit akward.. Our bathtub will be on the right and toilet under the window (same position as old layout) as all plumbing is already there. Unsure whether to have a concealed cistern toilet unit which can make the area look neater.. But I can't seem to find a good quality looking concealed unit (floor to under window measurement 98cm) width available is 50cm..or should i just go for a standard normal toilet. On the right after the bathtub we will have space for a double vanity sink unit.. opposite wall have a vertical stainless steel radiator... Unsure whether to go for a towel warmer or a vertical radiator? The bathroom will not have underfloor heating. Room dimensions are (length 335cm width 125cm) Any design ideas etc will be appreciated. Thank you X...See MorePepping up bathroom - under sink cabinet, wood & paint/paper ideas pls
Comments (10)Thanks all. 1. A carpenter/fitter is coming around on Sat for the kitchen - I'll ask him for a quote for this too. In the meantime, I've been googling/thinking, and saw this from IKEA: http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/products/washstands-taps/wash-stands/fullen-wash-basin-cabinet-white-art-70189041/ (& pale green countertop: http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/products/washstands-taps/wash-stands/viskan-countertop-pale-green-art-70354804) I just need to remove a slice of the base at the rear for it to be level with the top of the basin. Hope that doesn't look weird. 2. Will paint the door frame - satinwood or similar. Easy one, that. :) 3./4. Will look at the navy/teal/dark grey wallpapers and paint. I think a combination of them may look really good. Have requested some samples - just waiting for them to arrive now! Great. Can't wait to get going now....See Morebathroom shower help - controls on entry?
Comments (30)Tani H-S, you are not the only one who has been trying to do their bathroom for one year :-). I realised I have mis-read your post, I thought you were having a shower door as well rather than a just a fixed shower screen, in that case, it doesn't make sense to have the separate shower hose on the opposite side of the fixed shower head. How about having the separate shower hose and outlet come out of the same wall as the fixed shower head ( pipes behind same wall ) but with the outlet as near as possible to the corner of where the short wall and long wall meet and then have an additional 'hook' on the long wall ( like julesbird2014 ) so that when you are washing the dog, you can move the shower head to the side hook and you won't get wet when you put the water on as the water will spray away from you towards the glass. When you are shampooing the dog, you can put the shower head on the side hook rather than having to reach over the dog and put the head on the hook of where the fixed shower head is or leave it on the shower floor which means the water will spray everywhere unless you turn the water off. Keep the controls on opposite side of fixed shower head ( stud wall ). Are you sure a 1.1m shower screen is sufficient to prevent water coming out? I was told by several shops that it was best to have a 1.2m screen if having walk in shower and minimum 1.7m long shower. I know space could be limited to 1.6m hence the reason for a 1.1m shower screen but if screen is too short then it would be really annoying if you find that water keeps coming out after you have used it. Have you considered looking into having frameless sliding doors instead? Sometimes the glossy photos look amazing with fixed shower screens but if they are too short, it's not practical....See MoreNew layout ideas - kitchen through to bathroom
Comments (4)Hi Faye, this is an interesting one, than you for posting! If the house was mine, I would investigate to see whether the walls can be moved. If this could be an option I would think of extending the left bathroom wall so I could move the bathroom where your kitchen currently is, so I could have a bigger kitchen (inclusive of utility room). i this way the bathroom will be accessible from the corridor. please let me know if this makes sense! Thank you, Ketty...See MoreSonia Bhayani
