Space under the stair
Comments (26)Well, i was serious about the fairy garden, not joking, sometimes, people have to respect the ones commenting too. It is indoors, what i was seeing kept looking like out of doors. the pond is nice enough, does it have a fountain? It really looks like it would be hard to care for? in such an area, you could have great control and grow something like orchids? Other wise how about either an exhibition space for glass vases or sculpture, good lighting wonderful colors or prism effect of cut crystal or statuary. if you stick with the pond, i would definitely do a fountain, that would help keep it clean. once again could provide for some lovely water loving and shade loving plants....See MorePOLL: Best under stair storage?
Comments (27)Great ideas. It's amazing how much space you can save by using the space under the stairs. Also, interestingly enough, we covered the same subject 2 weeks ago on our website :). Here's an amazing playground created by one of our previous customers:...See MoreUNDER THE STAIRS
Comments (11)Hi there, I would agree with the above comment. The plants sit well but if you do decide to fit any storage etc I would make them floating storage space so your beautiful floor can still be seen and this will also draw the eye into the space further. Perhaps you could put a floating desk in with some cool lighting and make it into a internet snug or a cosy reading corner. Here's a picture of a hall cupboard I converted for a Client in Edinburgh which also added value to the property by creating a new room. This is a more quirky industrial style than the sleek design of your hallway but demonstrates what can be done with a small space and how effective clever lighting can be too. We put 'hello' letter lighting in this space but a simple phrase such as 'boo' might add a sense of fun under your stair....See MoreDesign advice on downstairs cloakroom
Comments (12)How about changing the position of the doorway to the toilet so the door is on the wall next to the window, facing the kitchen. That would stop it feeling quite so much like it is coming into your living space. Then you could perhaps have a sliding glass door/wall that blocks off the toilet entrance but leaves the living room bigger and still lets light in from the window....See MorePeter Butler
