What's your go-to furniture store?
Comments (1)I love looking at online auction sites. They are a great resource for unusual items. I find the High Street shops are often too busy for browsing and I like to take my time when choosing something I will be living with for years to come. I do look at the John Lewis website for furniture etc because I can then go to the store and look at them 'in the flesh'....See MoreWhere to go tile shopping in London
Comments (4)A good place to go (but expensive) is arkadia in the chelsea harbour design centre - even if you don't buy from there, they have a large selection of tiles and also samples for you to take back. That being said, I've also ordered many samples from tilemountain.co.uk - sometimes you can't beat a good bargain from an online store! Good luck...See MorePOLL: Shopping - locally or major supermarket?
Comments (10)I (and many others) have found it's a bit of a myth about supermarkets that they are so cheap. Value for money is what I would also look for. I want good quality food without silly specialty prices. I shop a lot at my local Turkish greengrocer/mini supermarket. He eats what he sells so doesn't buy things if they don't taste good. When I asked him why he stocked organic eggs but not organic milk he said he could taste the difference in the eggs but not the milk. His huge bunches of coriander are wonderful and tasty cherry tomatoes are superior to the 'Taste the difference' marketed ones that only taste good compared to the 'normal' ones that taste so bad (or just lack any taste!)! I do have a local supermarket I buy the odd item and when they ran out the other day I went to a smaller store about 10 doors away and where the supermarket charged £5.99 they sold it for £4.50. I also discovered shaving cream at the local chemist for £1 cheaper than the supermarket. Same with the fish shop, salmon and other fish a fraction of supermarket prices and even if similar prices, the quality is much better and fish fresher. So I buy less and less at the supermarket as time goes on. I also like to support independent traders where possible (although only if they sell good food). I don't go to dozens of stores, just 2-3 that are all within visible radius. Sometimes it's worth challenging our own assumptions and trying something different....See MoreFurniture brands that offer online delivery in the UK and in France
