Upholstery and colour scheme for living room with heritage furniture
Comments (10)Thanks a lot to all of you for your input and advice! @KK1000 As you pointed out, there are some smaller pieces of furniture that does not really belong there - the two very old chairs and cabinet before the sofa (they simply ended up there) and make the room more crowded. The ceiling lights were a low budget option during last renovation. Thank you for the suggestions for replacemnt. It's something I will consider in a future (when budget and time allows). @Jonathan You hit the nail on the head - the room is indeed an obstacle course. I didn't had the courage to consider a layout change yet, but as you mentioned it inspired me to get the measurements of the room and furniture once I will visit my parents again. Actually that's the part which is for me much easier than choosing the colours and materials. There's no other room where we could move the sofa, but I can have a look whether it could be split in some way so we could change the configuration. When it comes to dark colours, I can appreaciate them, but I am afraid it is nothing for my parents. But F&B Bone and gentle dusky pink sound good to me. Thanks for your input and even making a plan! @rachelmidlands Those examples are really great! As I wrote also to Jonathan, I will now consider changing the room layout - thanks for pointing it out. Your idea to get colour inspiration from those rugs really makes sense. Pale dusky blueish grey with accents of dusky pink against light walls is a suggestion that could work for everyone in the family. May I ask you where are your examples from? I just would like to get more info about the wall paint used on those pictures (I know I have to test it in situ, but anyway). Thanks!...See Morenude plaster pink paint colour help
Comments (16)We have a room in Setting Plaster, it’s a N facing room and I found that colour looks like a warm neutral in N facing but sickly peach in S facing. Conversely we have a S facing room in Calamine, this looks too sugary pink and almost blue toned in N facing but warms up nicely in S facing. So my advice would be to go less peach and more pink with your choices as you are S facing. As it happens Tani - I have an identical layout to yours, and am also pondering what to paint my white sofa wall! It does look a bit blank and stark in white. I’m going to buy a terracotta/rust/tan sofa but need a colour to go behind it. And some stuff for on the wall. Your plants have inspired me to get some thank you!...See MoreLiving room paint colour?
Comments (15)Do you like green at all? I have a red rug and muted red and beige curtains and was tired of my cream walls. With the help and advice from Houzzers I chose to paint the walls Cromarty, which is a very pale, soft green-grey. My room is North-East facing, so it shouldn’t work, but it does and I love it. It never feels cold. Green also goes beautifully with red/burgundy. The first pic is my living room, and the rest are samples I found on Pinterest....See MoreHelp choosing a F&B green for the living room
Comments (23)Chipping in from my experience. I painted my bedroom in Studio Green. Everything. Walls, skirting, cornice, ceiling, door, frame, built in wardrobe doors. (Actually window frame is a soft white). During painting I thought what have I done? But, end result is fantastic. Takeaways: be bold. Go darker than you think. (I tried over 20 colours before settling on SG). On that note, try more colours. Sulking room pink was one of those 20. Painting everything the same looks so good. Back to your original post, imho the darker colour works better with the chair. And totally changing tack, my front room is in Winterwood by Benjamin Moore. Beautiful. not easy, eh?...See MoreJuliet Docherty
