Mistake or am I overthinking?

Just finished converting a wc to a shower room. The windowsills were what the builder had an off cut of rather than what I'd specifically picked. I thought it would look ok but the rest of the grays in the room are warm grays (shower panels and floor) and the window sills are a cool grey, even though it has flecks of brown. The difference feels very obvious to me but I'm not very good with colour coordination so I can't work out if it's a mistake, or it works? Thoughts welcome please

When we notice things that are similar (such as similar greys or similar off whites) the difference betweeen them becomes very noticable if the values are the same (values means how light or dark a colour is). I would use a distraction technique, it's the best solution. Put something saturated such as a trailing plant on the windowsill and that will catch the eye sufficiently to lessen the effect.

While white fencing isn't for me in a back garden, I have seen loads of pics here on Houzz with white fences and, although they mostly seem to be over in the USA (let's face it - they tend to have better daylight in parts of North America than we do in the UK) I do like the look of it, though. I especially like the whitewash appearance if you're going for a Cottage Garden as it adds a weathered appeal. I went for black in my garden which looks pretty stylish, especially with the greens and whites in front of it. I used to live in a house with a roof terrace and we were advised at the time to not use white on the inside of the parapet walls as it would glare too much. The chosen option for the wall was pale grey (before it was fashionable) and it worked really well. For this reason, I wouldn't have gone for white fence or white furniture.

I love your paint colour. It has a green tinge, at least on my screen. I think white painted wooden blinds would look lovely. There are lots of whites you can choose, just don’t go too near cream as i think it can look a bit nicotine stained! Adding more accessories such as art, mirror, cushions and throw, will help cosy it up a bit too. You could add another colour in the accessories too, such as blush pink, or yellow. What colour are the grey walls? Lovely bathroom too.

It sounds like he undertook work he was unfamiliar with and he was unaccredited. Since he failed to deliver his contract and since he has ruined doors that now need replacing you have two courses of action. One option is to instruct your builder to replace the ruined doors and have them fitted by a licensed fire door fitter. When complete and signed off by the fire officer the builder will have met his contractual obligation and you must then pay him what was originally agreed or possibly a higher amount if you think it fair. Alternatively you get the job finished quickly by another professional and pursue the first builder for costs through the small claims court. This would be my preferred route as he falsely claimed he was able to carry out the job, has held up your project and delays will have led to a loss in rental income.
