Comments (5)Hi there, You could opt for a light grey roller blind in dimout fabric to keep with the contemporary feel of the room. Our system allows you to swap the fabrics whenever you like without having to replace the complete system. Check us out at blocblinds.co.uk. Good luck with such an exciting project! Comments (23)Hi Sophia, I think the floor is the most important thing as it won't be changed once it's down, paint it relatively cheap. The best advice I could give (based on my recent experience) is that if you put a cool grey floor in a room that's filled with sun it's fine. If you do the same in a North facing room it can feel gloomy and cold and then you have the option of taking well known advice for a North facing room which is 'opt for warm, creamier colours for the walls'. Well this doesn't work too well with grey floors, it can look sickly. Therefore, the floor is a consideration at this point. There is a gorgeous tile from Topps called 'Sculpt' in beige which is the very same colour as warm concrete and it has an amazing look to it. General advice is to avoid cold greys in North faicng rooms and opt for yellow based neutrals. I have used Skimming Stone in my kitchen (North facing) but it's got lots of natural wood. Off white and Shaded White are both recommended for North facing rooms. https://www.madaboutthehouse.com/choosing-the-right-shade-of-grey-paint/...See Morekitchen/diner/utility room
Comments (12)if you make a partition wall slightly longer by the side of the storage under a stair and have only bottom kitchen units as a first two 2x450mm you could position your TV can be there above and have top and bottom kitchen units and then move a hob to the end of a row close to the external wall (it would be easy ducting as well then) position your island close to the kitchen just enough to pass in between kitchen island and kitchen units and have chest of draws for all kitchen stuff in a left hand side of the island. i would say leave about 900mm gap at least and put all your chairs on a front on a back and on a right side of it opposite to a kitchen. think about more likely a long island so then you could easily watch the TV as well positioned on a right hand side of a kitchen close to the stair....See MoreKitchen diner, or kitchen, living diner?
Comments (24)Yes we needed an RSJ and all of the walls underpinning as there were no foundations. Was very costly but definitely worth it as we live in that end of the house. I think that With having an older property, costs do just spiral. I can’t remember how much the RSJ was, sorry. i think our building work was about £25000. Can you leave the fireplace in and have it open so you can see it from both sides? Then have your kitchen and dining in the current lounge and your living area where it is at the moment but open it up apart from the firePlace? We’ve left in our old exposed stone work and cleaned it up....See Moresharon marton England
