Ensuite/wetroom layout
Comments (12)Hi. Are there any other options in the flat/house? Do you need an ensuite? If you have to have an en suite I'd go for option a as the bedroom feels more spacious, most people can put up with a small en suite and prefer a larger room. Or can the bed go under the window? How high is it? And then you could effectively create a long bedroom by having the ensuite in the top left corner as you look at the pic with storage running all the way down to the end wall....See MoreCould you please have a look at these pics and advise on renovation
Comments (6)I worry that the quoted £60k will leave you with a warm safe house with a new kitchen….. but no floor coverings, no window treatments, no light fittings and no furniture. So perhaps the thing to do is cost up all those finishing jobs and then see what’s left for the builder. You might conclude that some of the wardrobes and bedroom carpets can stay at least for a while so that you can concentrate budget on rooms you are going to use more. (That flowery bedroom carpet is probably still in amazing condition and the fancy panelling on the wardrobes can likely be stripped off for a more contemporary look). You should also prioritise the heating and wiring and any repairs. You should also do all the dusty jobs now….. so I would probably put a door into the kitchen opposite the front door, and take down the internal wood cladding. I would probably strip out the skirtings, architrave, doors and banisters and replace them all with new as the originals will need significant time and effort to get looking good- plus your new wood floors will have tidier edges if you put the skirtings on after the floors are laid. And although on other another thread there has been some discussion about the total costs of some of the jobs I suspect that there is an economy of getting it done quickly and moving in....See MoreCarpet and cracks advise
Comments (5)The metallic strip is part of the plastering job. It’s where the plasterer plasters up to enabling him/her to get a keen edge. It’s required and called angle bead. I have a wooden floor in my hall and carpet on my stairs. You can blend both. There is another post on here regarding what to cover stairs with and I’m in agreement with your builder that carpet is safer....See MoreRefurbishment, final touches....
Comments (10)To get rid of the moss from the roof, I thought of the following I could easily spray this liquid, as I got a Spear &Jackson sprayer with a telescopic handle and can reach 3 meters Spear & Jackson Spray and Leave Concentrated Mould, Algae and Moss Remover 5 Litre https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B011KT373Q/ref=ox_sc_saved_image_6?smid=A3W3OZUGAYS9HX&psc=1 ----- Has anyone got any feedback or ideas on this?
