Who's got pendant lighting in their kitchen?
Comments (17)Luciana I get you, I had a similar dilemma re the Tom Dixon lights, and ended up finding some gorgeous vintage copper lights which I like more, are more unusual, and haven't seen in anyone else's home. I had the central light re-positioned over the kitchen table (it's a large 70s onion shaped copper coloured one that moves up and down). I love it over the table and it sits quite low and looks great. At night we only have that one on and the rest of the kitchen disappears (including the washing up!) so it feels more intimate. I then found 2 more smaller ones that are over the sink and benchtop, and higher up than the table one. They are all different but the same 70s copper style so they look good together and I love them. People often comment (in a good way) as they add a bit of interest and personality to the room....See MorePOLL: Pendant lighting - yay or nay?

Comments (12)Hi Moggles i have a similar renovation starting and have the same thoughts re pendant lighting from steel. Are you actually allowed to have anything coming from the steel itself or won't this negate the fire proofing measures put in place ? So if you are allowed to hang directly from under the steel the next concern is the head height as looking at your photos it does look limited. I have actually bought 2 pendant fittings so i can decide when the time is right which is going to look best. One is a standard pendant with 3 lights dropping from it ... quite ordinary. The other is a long thin led bar that i thought could be hung with as much or little drop from the ceiling as required. It's quite similar to this but i think slimmer (it doesn't seem to be available now :/ ) http://www.litecraft.co.uk/quartz-rectangular-led-ceiling-pendant-chrome In fact it's really similar to the one shown by Modus above ! Will be following this thread with interest to see how you progress !...See MoreKitchen island pendant lights
Comments (6)Hi. Yes, our first fix electrics are already in. Although, in theory, we should have been able to leave exact positioning until after the units were fitted (mid May), our ceiling is quite complicated: We have a hidden steel running down the centre of the room. So they have made special fixings in the ceiling, so that the pendants can still be fixed in the (hopefully!) best positions... We have one in the centre, then one equidistant between the centre and each end of the island. I think that should be ok. So they are about 750mm centres I think. They are slightly off centre, width ways, away from the hob side. Yes, too many big decisions. Not sure that I have made all of them right, but we are getting there. Current hold up are the bifolds, windows and doors. They are plaster boarding and plastering everything except for the reveals, but can’t finish or start the flooring until the windows are in. It’s giving me a bit longer to either about wall and kitchen cabinet colours 😱...See MoreDen Life Interiors
