Grey windows only at the front

We are in the process of renovating our bungalow. My partner is keen to modernise it and have grey windows to enhance the street view, but we can’t afford to replace all the windows in the property. We will also have a grey front door.

Would you be happy having grey windows at the front and keeping the windows white at the back?

They should be the same

It’s fine to have different coloured windows at the front and back of the house

Hi Amy Pryle, another option could be to spray the window frames this is a cost effect way of transforming the window frame colour and should last for many years. Hope this helps😊

It’s fine……. As long as the windows suit the property and you are detached and changing the windows doesn’t make you a mismatched semi.

I would go with black upvc windows at the front I think they would look really classy and different. I have an original 1930s round bay window fronted house with the original leaded lights they are beautiful mine is one of only two houses on the street with the original windows. As you can imagine they really need replacing but I cannot bear to let them go but if I have to I would be different and go for grey upvc. Or black.

Thanks Daisy I am swaying more towards grey. Yes that's very true as we're one of the only houses with the original 80s windows still, so people won't pay out just for a different colour if there windows are still okay. We really love grey, I am just worried it'll look out of place or not as good as I'd be hoping. I may have found the solution... I've been googling today & noticed slim profile UPVC windows exist (Aluminium is out of our budget). As one thing that put me off UPVC grey Windows was that the frame seams more obvious than white somehow & I don't like the thick,chunky frame of some UPVC Windows so that maybe an option. Thanks again!

We went for it - the photo is a little further up the feed before we had the drive done and painted the hanging tiles to match. We get lots of comments from passers by that they love it but i'd still love to get it rendered so they really pop rather that it be so dark.

No problem with having front and back different as you can never see both together. as mentioned above, if your current windows are in good condition and you just want them grey, they can be sorayed at a fraction of the cost and look great.
