Before and After: Replacing a PVC Conservatory with an Oak Orangery
Comments (18)Hi Anita, thank you for your lovely comments. We do not use green oak on our orangeries based on the fact that the timber will move too much when it is exposed to changes in temperatures (heating internally) in this state and could cause breakages in the glass or encourage leaks. Instead, we season our own oak (allow the timber to dry out naturally) and select the most suitable timbers for each position, obviously it is a natural product so it will still move but it will have a lot less movement due to the fact the majority of the moisture in the centre of the beam should have already dried out. There are different options with the maintenance, depending on what aesthetic look you desire. Please feel free to call and speak to one of our designers for more details on 01384 296611....See MoreBefore and After of Living Room and Bedroom

Comments (32)@vv0123 thank you! I restored the windows back to how they would have been originally. The original transom (I think it is called) would have been stone but my dad made mine from timber and I painted it. A couple of houses on my street still have the original feature so I was able to make sure mine looked correct. The two windows were then fitted either side. The windows are plastic but I went for the half/half openers, again to make them look more like original sash windows, plus some of the windows are over 6ft high so it makes them easier to open. The windows came from a local window company in Manchester my dad occasionally fits for. Hope that answers all your questions :)...See MoreBEFORE & AFTER- Colourful South London Home
Comments (29)I think its bold and brave, love the bright woodwork on the windows and skirting, the rest of the house is great too, the kitchen unit colour especially. It's good to see some colour on Houzz for a change! I was a bit surprised to see the original floorboards covered up in the sitting/dining room, I hope the new flooring was real wood!...See MoreHU-303279096
