Bathrooms Before & After Renovating

Redecorate my guest bathroom

Please check the colours of the tiles .. i won't change them. Yet I'd like to change the counter, the sink, lighting and the mirror. What do you suggest?

The tiles are very dark. I would suggest a round plasma mirror. A lighter vanity with a designer tap might help to lift it. You might prefer a countertop bowl type basin.

I would change the mirror to something with a brass/gold frame thats maybe round, same with the sink change the tap colour and the style of the basin. As well as changing the wood on the cabinet below.

I still want to kill my DH over the guest bathroom décor. I wanted an "Italian vampire raises from its tomb" theme: large black tiles for floor and some walls, the shower and rest of the walls in these superb handmade glazed Italian mosaic tiles I found, similar to this: I had my eyes on this black high-gloss bathroom vanity, with red toilet seat - it would've been glorious!! I paid for everything, came home excited with samples and... disaster: hubby went ...red, he called his brother and mother, even my sister, as reinforcements, and started the attack! Apparently, it was 'too scary', too much Dracula or kitschy brothel like (they couldn't decide and made me wonder how do they know what a brothel bathroom looks like), too "dark and gory" and they were all "genuinely horrified", as the guests would've been (in their opinion) ... boring people.... Anyway, I went back with hubby to the bathroom shop, to find "light and classic" and, as a joke, I showed him the 'swimming pool' glass mosaic - he liked it and, as they say, the rest is history. So now we have a nice, practical and totally boring guest bathroom, that apparently doesn't horrify the guests (just me!)

Thank you. the current tiles in there are really quite big - much bigger than this size on the paper. To be honest I'm trying to do as much cosmetic improvement to the house as possible using as little money as possible so I hadn't thought of removing the bottom tiles and doing that whole wall with this paper but yes I think that would look good, much better than doing half. I imagine we could remove the current tiles ourselves but would then get someone in to re plaster that bit of wall? If so, how long is it before you can paper a newly plastered wall?

Hello Yan, wanted to show you an idea of colour scheme for your bathroom. I decided to keep up with your layout idea and I noticed you like grey and wood in interior. In addition, SA contemporary style isn't much about colours but more about textures to keep interior simple and rich. In general, interior is neutral with couple of small colour accents, which can be easily updated or changed in time. There is no drama that sink in front of window! Moreover it gives fantastic advantages to use natural light. You can hang oval mirror at the window frame. In the evening hours, you can use illumination from wall light above window. Flooring is grey brushed concrete tiles with soft matt texture. Wood like porcelain tiles use for walls from the left and right, including curves. That's how you unite broken wall on a left and make it longer and identical. Tiles for walls around window and the opposite side ( including all curves and around door) should be the same - light grey with stone like texture. Grey tone on walls is lighter than on a floor. Hahahaha Joanna! Honestly me and hubby have also invested emotion into this. Seems like we are in the same boat, rewire/ installing gas, putting in central heating, all the works basically! I would love to know how it all comes along for you. I wish we could do house tours on houzz for the amateurs like me! Whilst the amazing houses from interior designers and architects are so inspirational, not everyone like me can afford their expertise for first timers and would amazing to see what other first timers have done. Xxx
