Open plan room wall colour ideas
Comments (2)Hi Hanifa, The first thing I would suggest is to work out which direction the patio doors are facing, and take account of the quantity and quality of the light. This is so important! Use the compass app on your phone for this. Colours look different depending on your room orientation. If your room is south facing for example, then you'll get a decent amount of light all day, so you can choose pretty much any colour scheme. The room looks pretty narrow, so I'd avoid using bright, saturated colours. Stick to lighter shades, especially on the feature wall. The existing grey/green walls look ok. It also links the kitchen and dining area which looks good. You could divide the dining area from the lounge with a few plants. Try a Palm plant like a Kentia Palm (B+Q). They doesn't need much light, and look great in any room. I think the curtains would work better in a simple, white fabric. If you don't need to block out extremely bright light, then use a voile, muslin or other sheer fabric. Also, be careful adding too much grey. You don't want the room looking too drab. Buy testers, paint on large pieces of paper or card, and place around the space. Check the colours at different times of the day, to better help you decide on the right choice. Good luck, have fun, and I hope you're happy in your new home. Hope this helps a bit......See Moreopen plan room feature wall colour
Comments (18)Okay. Not sure why you were set on blue? I can't see blue going well with your sofa? But I've tried F&B Hague Blue and that seems to go fairly well. Anyway, it's nearly impossible to give paint colour advice based on photos on screen, since colours will look different on every screen and are also influenced by the light in a room. But... here are visuals of Brinjal, Hague Blue and Salon Drab. Which whall(s) are you thinking of painting? All three? I'm not keen on the Brinjal, because I feel that it will cast a red glow over the room? I quite like the look of Salon Drab on my screen. Looks nice and calm and cosy. Might be totally different on your screen or in real life though....See MorePaint colour for open plan
Comments (4)I did a large sample piece on my walls with Wevet before buying a 5L tin. Mine doesn’t look any different at any time of the day and I sincerely hope when I do the rest of my kitchen it doesn’t show out as pink. It must be the lighting making it show the pink. Edit: I’ve just enlarged the images and mine is nothing like yours. Very strange....See MoreSeeking clever paint ideas / colours for an open plan
Comments (3)Hi, Have you seen that Dulux have launched a new heritage collection? There are some great colours. You can get a free dolour chart here https://www.designerpaint.com/brands/dulux-heritage?fbclid=IwAR24sc873RLmxHGIQmkzdZDYUqTf2Ew5cE8sPIxaFITK3GOcjpnRHb22XU0 I would paint the internal recesses of the shelving unit but before you pick a colour look at the types of items you are planning on displaying - this may give you a better steer on the colours to pick. Hope thats some help Rgds Vicky...See MorePiur & Co interior design
