tile adhesive won’t dry

I bought this from B&Q and tiled, 3 days later it’s still wet! Not even dry or no signs of it drying

What type of wall tiles have you used? The adhesive is suitable for ceramic and mosaic tiles, but not porcelain.

I am a tiler so its in my interest to persuade people to fit more tiles but I agree with the other people who are questioning why you want to do this. You can transform the room with wall paper as Kerosis suggests and if you tire of that in a few years it is easy to remedy. I always point out to people that tiles are put on the wall as a practical durable easy to clean surface and therefore it is often not necessary to put them everywhere. If you do decide to fit tiles then you should remove the paint on the walls 1st as that was only ever designed to hold itself on the walls and it doesn't matter how brilliantly your adhesive hangs onto that paint if the extra load causes the paint bond to fail then your tiles will no longer be bonded to the wall (no such problem with lightweight wallpaper :-) Terry the tiler

Homebase does some great porcelain tiles - Luna. The beige (also available in black but won't recommend) one will work well with your units I think. You can use the 300x600 size for the wall and the 400x400 for floor. They are not expensive at all, we paid only around £12/m when we did our bathroom in the old flat, hope the photos below show. Be aware they are very difficult to drill though. The word porcelain says it all! :). For the splash black though, it's been my dream to have a coloured glass one, any colour will go well with your neutrally coloured units. So if you managed to save a bit on floor tiles, I'd use the savings on glass. All the best!

I absolutely hate those trim pieces. When you are spending hundreds or thousands on tile to do a project and then finish it with these trim products it looks cheap and tacky. Plus when you are using a classic or vintage tile those shiny metal pieces or worse the cheap white plastic doesn't match. Just ruins the whole thing. I suspect builders like this kind of trim because it fast and easy to use and covers a multitude of sins. You don't have to be a particularly skilled tiler. Nor do you have to do any special cuts.

You should have a backer yes. Do not tile directly onto a dry wall with natural stone. The plasterboard is not waterproof and will not take the weight of the travertine. Remove the plasterboard and fix a backerboard. The backer can be made from different materials just have a look for what suits your application the best and your good to go.
