Hi could anyone tell me how to get a buff coloured mortar for London stock bricks like this picture thanks

Helenandy126: Travis Perkins came in at the best, but I have a trade account with them and I bargain hard. If I remember, Furness sold direct but they just couldn't get anywhere near what I wanted to pay. There are thousands of bricks out there, you just need to narrow it down but go with the big names such as Hanson or Ibstock as they'll have close copies of most bricks out there. I'm not sure if the merchants still do this but once you give your site address and your brick, they register it with the manufacturers and then no other merchant can quote, meaning your stuck with their price. That's why you'll then be able to find a close match with another manufacturer so that you can then get another price for the different brick.

You can remove it but it will be a lot of work to restore it to the same quality as the rest of the house frontage. Most likely they rendered to cover damaged bricks. So to restore you will have to take off the render, clean the bricks which may need chemically cleaning to remove the render. Then some bricks will have to be chopped out and replaced which will mean finding salvaged bricks. Lastly this area will likely need repointing. So it can be done but personally I would buy some topiary and put it in front of the rendered bit.

Hi - a year ago my builders blew a couple of my bricks at the front of my house and replaced them but used concrete instead of mortar + builders sand. Result looks horrible. Also one of bricks is chipped. How can I fix this? Repair brick with filler and then simply go over the concrete with mortar + sand mix? Not sure if i can rak the concrete out don't want to crack the other bricks? Thanks, Matt
