Problem with returning damp on internal wall on a coastal home

I have a continuing damp problem in my entrance just above the skirting.I have to sand back and repaint almost bi monthly.The plaster never fully dries out. I have a dehumidifier on regularly.Can anyone offer any advise on paint types that might offer a longer term solution?
I would like to attach photos to this post but not sure how to do so.

You need to deal with the root cause of the damp first, then you can use a paint like https://www.paint-direct.co.uk/p/ronseal-one-coatdamp-seal before over painting.

Hi Victoria, I don't have any plans to show you, but some construction photos of our side extension - I think we have the same layout as you, but in the mirror :)). We extended our kitchen 4 years ago, unfortunately I'm not able to tell you how much it cost as we'd had a complete house renovation and paid it all as a pack. However, the structural beams and glazing in the kitchen were billed separately; main beam was about £3000, the glass (including folding doors) was £15000. I remember we also asked for a quote for a roof with 3 or 4 skylights, builder said he'd do it for £9000 at the time (we live in Cardiff). We had the same problem, wanting to maximize the use of space and get as much natural light as possible. We decided NOT to have two access points to the kitchen, but close off the middle room double door and have an internal window instead. Our thinking was that, if we keep a door there, the space is lost, as it needs to be 'free of stuff' for access :)) especially because, as with your house, we have a loo in between and the back length of that loo can't be anything but a corridor (aka dead space). By closing it, we gained a fully usable middle room and a somewhat closed corner in the kitchen, ideal for bins, feeding the cats, dumping hoover/ bikes out the way, etc. I hope I make sense (I'm a bit tired and my English seams to fail me at such times... :)) You can even have it as a play corner... I think it's a leak as well. We had an almost identical problem in the kitchen, less than a year after complete renovation; it took another year until we had it sort it because the builder argued it wasn't his fault and wouldn't show up to have it fixed, etc. In the end, he finally came and I wanted to kill him: the pipe connection for the outside tap hadn't been tightened enough and it was dripping... all he did was to rotate the valve (or whatever that's called) and it was all sort it... ahhhhhm!!! Of course, we had to put up with re-plastering, waiting to dry, painting, etc, the whole thing took ages... So, whatever you do, don't leave it for too long, unfortunately it's only going to get worse.

Did you have a damp report before renovating, and did you have specialists in to do the renovations? If so, the work might be under guarantee??? If not, I would get a damp specialist around - they usually come and give free advice.

Plasterer covered up all internal wall vents

Walls are not insulated. Would assume I should make sure exterior vents are kept so moisture can escape from the cavity? There's been issues with walls sucking up groundwater, so to let that moisture escape somewhere. I'm going to have have to insert some damp proofing rods in several places. Cheers!

Yes try and locate what is causing it. Is there leaking gutters or downpipes?

I would get a damp specialist out to look at it. You should not have to be repainting constantly. As it is an external wall what is on the outside of it? Is it a terrace or semi detached and which way does it face? If you already have a dehumidifier on quite often then it sounds more serious. Could be a damp proof course problem. It looks like rising damp.

You say it’s an internal wall. Is there a washing machine or shower room on the other side of the wall. I agree with the earlier comment that you need to locate and remove the cause of the problem.
