I keep seeing this project on socials and I think the red is gorgeous and adds so much character. Bold choice by the clients which really works. Very well executed too, are the doors and windows steel or aluminium?

Fulfills a need to be different I suppose. Doesn't seem to reference any of the surrounding architecture. To me pointless.

Our clients in Cheshire wanted to create a large, open-plan family living space that blended harmoniously with their existing property, whilst maximising light and ensuring that their wonderful gardens outside could be both easily accessed and enjoyed all year-round. As the gardens were a clear focal point, a large glazed gable was proposed along with a set of French doors and bi-folding windows on the side elevation. Our signature bi-folding windows helped to bring in extra light and warmth that was greatly desired, whilst offering panoramic views of their much-loved garden. The glazed gable created a beautifully detailed vaulted ceiling and mimicked the roof angle of the existing property to continue the flow seamlessly from the main house to the new extension. The roof tiles were also closely matched to the existing roof, so that aesthetically, it appeared to be part of the original structure, this also played a huge part in gaining planning approval with the local authority. Our clients were overjoyed with the transformation and now have a beautiful Garden Room that can be used year-round. I know you are all right about using the front room as a bedroom but If I keep the reception room as the main living area, I am finding it difficult to visualise the furniture layout as the shape of the room is odd with a fire place and 2 little windows on the outside wall. The original tiles have been taken from the fireplace so its horrible. The room goes really far back and I am unsure of where I can put the TV for the kids. The bi folding doors on the left are modern and also horrible. I would like to replace them but I am not sure what would be in keeping with a 1930s house.fireplace Bifolding doors i wish to replace with something more period Back of same room Help!

Quarry tiles - what do you think?

We inherited a couple of rooms with quarry tiles when we bought this house... older (though not original) tiles in the utility room in red shades and newer ones in the kitchen in brown shades. I like the red tiles in the smaller space, but the tiles in the kitchen really suck the light out of the room. It may just be the shade of tile and a brighter colour might be ok, but I'd much prefer something lighter and will change them when we redo the kitchen in a year or so. Think about the natural light the room gets because if you do go for the quarry tile it will darken the room a lot.

crittal is the original classic slip profile, they have a long history. most aluminium window suppliers buy in profiles and manufacture the windows. the glazing unit needs to be well made from a good source as it is this that provides the u value. as long as the thermal break is manufactured correctly and the the windows are ideally internally beaded or if externally beaded has a security lock to prevent the glass being removed. they are generally branded " secured by design".

Not for me I’m afraid. Orange is my least favourite colour. If they had chosen black or darkest green it would have sat better within the landscape, but each to their own!

it depends, for a commercial space I think it would work really well.

However, I don't believe I would specify it for a residential project unless the client wanted something really different. I could see a some designer or an architect or an artist making that choice. But it could be very polarising if wanting to sell the property.

However, getting it painted something more traditional isn't too difficult.

Personally, I would pick it for myself.
