Double Reception Room Advice
Comments (10)Hi! It sounds like they're best left out. If you don't need functioning space then would just have a lounge with a couple of seating areas. The floor could look great, that will be a great find! How much light is there in the room? Neutral sounds great. You could also do the floor a mid oak to contrast with cool walls? I've done 2 plans. Pic 2 isn't great for tv viewing. Note the stools and coffee table shown would also be very small! It is also allowing for the lounge door being hung the other way. For pic 1 you could also fit another chaise still in front of the lounge window if wanted? Check out re tv's over fires if you plan on using the fire. I don't personally like them as focal points but it depends how you feel. Hope it gives some ideas anyway. I don't know if you're buying all new furniture but it would be good to draw exactly to scale to see what works. I would choose slim sofas in any case given the width of the room...See MoreLoft conversion: 2nd Master Bedroom (plus smaller double) ? Or 2 even
Comments (5)We had the same dilemma and opted for a slightly larger main a Jack and Jill bathroom and used the slightly smaller double as a massive walk in wardrobe (a future owner could use the room as another double bedroom but for us the space for clothing was much better as a solution than a spare room that would rarely be used). Due to the eaves the hanging room is limited in a loft so better and cheaper to use drawers and hanging rails under the eaves for storage (rather than bespoke wardrobes) which meant it being on show so we wanted it in a separate room to our sleeping area....it's a wonderful haven now and we love it...hope that helps - to see a walk through........See MoreMiddle reception room dilemma
Comments (6)I would try to change the proportions of things (at least visually). If possible, are you able to remove the bookcase to the left of the door into the dining room? If so, this may be a good place to have a lovely chair or chaise. The large wall (behind toy cooker) is very prominent and bare. A very low unit (floating if possible) the full width of the wall would be a great place to store oversized books etc and the top could be used to display things that would look good in silhouette. You could also place a lovely mirror above to reflect light. http://loaf.com/products/cinch-mirror. The wall above the radiator (which probably gets little light) could be painted a dark tone and used as a gallery wall....See MoreHelp with downstairs loo and reception layout
Comments (4)I wonder which side is attached and what the upstairs layout is like. I'd be looking at a long term solution and the loo seems to be in the wrong place. Would it be possible to move it to under the stairs where there's storage (or is that a very used part of the family room?) If not would you be interested in rejigging your kitchen to put a larger loo where your kitchen sink is and access it from the hall? That would mean having to move the sink down to the other end of your kitchen and losing the front window.... In terms of the family room door alone, I'd look at taking a little bit of your sitting room into the hall, turn the bottom few stairs towards the front door to allow you to put a fab glazed door flush with the supporting wall....See More- 22 days ago
