need ideas for living room with stairs and under stairs space
How would you design this blank canvas. We are looking to decorate the living room(carpet will be removed and LVT to be added), which has a staircase and under staircase space. I’m thinking either a workspace or a cozy corner there. Any other ideas? Also looking for color schemes for walls to go with grey couch and wooden flooring. Please provide suggestions.

Thank you for your inputs! What other flooring would you suggest, or do you think Underfloor heating would be better?
Regarding the fireplace, it won’t be a working fireplace and we are going to have cabinets and shelving over both sides.
Windows in the living room are south facing, we should be getting good lighting.
Also the TV we are thinking of mounting it above the fireplace.
Colours and styling wise looking for something like this, but I feel like we have less space if we add the sofa and other furniture

Comments (26)Well, i was serious about the fairy garden, not joking, sometimes, people have to respect the ones commenting too. It is indoors, what i was seeing kept looking like out of doors. the pond is nice enough, does it have a fountain? It really looks like it would be hard to care for? in such an area, you could have great control and grow something like orchids? Other wise how about either an exhibition space for glass vases or sculpture, good lighting wonderful colors or prism effect of cut crystal or statuary. if you stick with the pond, i would definitely do a fountain, that would help keep it clean. once again could provide for some lovely water loving and shade loving plants....See MoreIdeas for empty space above stairs
Comments (24)I have the same space, but all ready have a cupboard accessible from the bedrooms. Trying to decide whether to board over the space to have a sloping ceiling which is what a neighbour has just done. We would then extend the cupboard, but don’t really want to add another door from the bedrooms. Or possibly make a feature and cover it with large antique style mirror tiles. Comments (9)If the desire is to keep it an open space, I’d recommend putting something visually striking there...perhaps an interesting trunk or low sideboard. You can use plants and /or lamps to balance out the sloping line created by the stairs above. Where the arch is, would you have a solid wall or a glazed double door - living room window is west facing and shutters are great for privacy but make the room look dark.
