Ideas to improve hallway?
Comments (16)I love the space, you could make it something wonderful! Keep the stair carpet and lose the curtain and also the wallpaper. I wouldn't personally add more wallpaper. A bright colour on at least one wall would look great ... something fun like a lime green or orange!? as well as or instead of ... some big colourful canvases would look fabulous ... or get someone to paint a mural. Lots of artists around that would love to help. You could just make it a gallery wall with a variety of pieces over time. Keep to softer edges, ... even the picture of the flower has quite hard edges. Have a look at this article and how most of the artwork adds movement ... https://www.houzz.co.uk/magazine/styling-how-to-choose-and-display-art-stsetivw-vs~31581051 Another option to the curtain and also very affordable is using something much lighter such as muslin or organza ... something to let the light through. Again you could use something with a bit of splash ... you can get two tone organza fabric that changes in the light. I am not one for trends, as suggested above choose things you like. I also like a bit of fun so consider having some fun with it, and it can still be elegant....See MoreIdeas needed to improve exterior please - porch & windows! :)
Comments (4)I think it's safe to say that the crux of the matter is the 80's extension roof. If you're going to the trouble of a new extension then the roof needs to go and then both bits tied in properly. The doorway through to the back garden is too close to the Front door, and the roof is larger than that of the front door. They at the very least need to be identical sizes, or preferably under one roof the same pitch and proportions as that of the garage. The porch needs to be grander and centralised. I'm no expert plan drawer by any means, but i did a mock up of what i had in mind, the rest would be down to the architect and budget....See MoreIdeas on improving Front Exterior without a Front Door please?
Comments (13)Good afternoon everyone! We are blown away by the amazing response we have had from this community, thank you everyone for your feedback. We are especially grateful to Jonathan for his valuable feedback.. the idea is genius and makes so much sense! Thank you so much Jonathan for taking out the time to help us! I have never seen my husband so impressed by an idea so much!! I have attached a couple more photos showing view of the garage from the front of the house along with the entrance gate itself into the property. I have also attached a copy of our floor plan. We would really appreciate your thoughts on what we could to with the garage and front exterior in terms of: Garage walls - What do you think about the brick work? Worth keeping, or should we clad? Garage roof - We currently have an unsightly metal sheet. We don’t want to fully rebuild but we’ve seen light weight roofing for garages which look like tiling. Any suggestions or thoughts on this? Front exterior - We’re looking to improve kerb appeal of the house from the front, any ideas welcome (cladding, paint, stone work?) Windows - these are the original single pane windows which unfortunately come with poor insulation. Any thoughts on what to do for those? Further to the front patio suggestion, is it worth installing an entrance which leads straight into the kitchen through the current ‘Study’? See floor plan. (We are planning to extend the current kitchen by a further 2.5m towards the rear garden). Any ideas, suggestions and comments will be really appreciated, thank you for your help!...See MoreExterior improvement required for my 1950s bungalow! Photoshop please
Comments (31)Not sure if i need to start a new post but i have booled the decorator to come to paint all the fascias, soffits, guttering, downpipes and garage doors for now. But what colours? From pica attached you cam see we currently have an awful pale blue underneath. Would u do this again with the very dark charcoal colour which we are going to do our garage doors? Or would u keep it all white? Or would u paint the gutters and downpipes in the charcoal... or keep them white? Advise pls...See MoreSophie H
