Adding bits of furniture to a room

Hello All,

Is there a simple way to take a picture of an existing room and add furniture to it (in an AR way) or do I have to draw the whole thing?

We have a living room (and others) that have furniture and are painted but missing shelves, pictures, rugs, etc... I looked for apps or websites that do this but could not find. Any ideas are welcome.

Hi Mourad, apps like IKEA Place and Houzz let you see how different items would look in your space just by using your smartphone or tablet's camera. You simply take a photo of your room and the app overlays 3D models of furniture and accessories onto the image. Hope this helps?

You can't do that with the Houzz app unless you use pro features.

1. Curtains It depend of the orientation and if you are overlooked. The double rail is a good idea to give you privacy in the evening with a second layer of curtains. Just be aware when choosing the colours of the fabric on the sides during the day, it can really suck up light and it looks like a large window. The pole could be black or copper as Minnie suggested, picking up the browns of floor and accessories. See trough curtains like light coloured veil with a simple vertical stripes pattern will maximise the natural light. 2. Rugs Definitely patterned, geometric or abstract. http://wovenground.net/modern/abstract/canevas-_-abstract/stone Low pile or high pile? It also depend on your life style ... have you got pet, children or allergies? The high pile need a bit more attention. 3. Walls The kitchen can be treated as a separate space and painted in a different colour. The room is quite narrow so keep it light and preferably not feature wall on the wider side as it will make the room feeling even more narrow. A feature wall is used to bring the room's shape back in proportion. 4. Mirror above the radiator A round mirror, or a square will break the length of the room better then a rectangular one. Hi Julie. Is it is a modern country look you're after? This fabric from cabbages and roses may work. The background is detailed as blue but it looks a grey/blue to me which should work with your tiles and carpet which looks as if it's has a blue undertone and it also appears to have a rich cream in (hard to tell colours online sometimes!). I can't see the curtain pole but can it go any wider? I haven't found the best pic but a sisal rug with grey tones would add texture. Do you have a wall to place A floor standing mirror to bounce some light? Is the lamp a cloche? Can you add a faux succulent or something in it? I'd add a few more accessories on the sideboard, pic will follow, but try and create a triangle shape with the height. Then choose items which match in colour, shape, material etc. An ornament stood on a couple of books can look good and books add warmth. You may just want to add flowers on the table but a wicker log basket filled with dried or good faux hydrangea stood in a corner can look quite effective

Hi. The room is looking good. I would also move the desk only because it feels like it's missing a chair Plus obviously not practical if you intend to use it! If you dressed it as a console with lamp and accessories with art over etc though I think it might work (then have a large plant the other side of the sofa. i would pull both the sofa and chair out a little from the walls. I'm not sure what you think of this? I personally would opt for shades of blue to break up the orange a little. The lamp would go behind the chair And just the rectangular cushion on it. I would Look for art in your colours to go by the chair (light switch wall) and behind the plant/desk. Accessorise the shelves with a combination of books, an ornament or 2 plus your framed photos.

Here you go, had to guess some of the dimensions of the apartment, but it's roughly correct, I think. Used the dimensions of your sofa. Used a 150 x 45 cm TV unit. Dining table 90 cm. Hope it helps. You have about 65-70 cm between the back of the sofa and the balcony door. My advise is to get creative with paper and/or tape and put the dimensions of your sofa down on the floor in the apartment. It will give you an idea of how much space it leaves to walk around. It's rather large for the size of the room, but I do like it and if you go for a light colour, it might just work. Try it out with paper or tape before you buy. You'll struggle to get that coffee table in there. I'd go for something smaller that you can easily put aside
