Taken from 'eleusis', my 2011-12 series, 'rhea' narrates in astonishing visual detail the minoan origins of the eleusinian mysteries, the famed religion of the ancient greek world. here is seen rhea, the mother of the olympian gods in a guise that bears strong resemblance to bronze age cretan images of the goddess, flanked by two griffins taken from minoan sealstones. the artwork is rendered in bruce's signature style, using acrylics, inks and markers on canvas in a manner which utilises contrastive line techniques to create composite colourforms and shimmering overlays. these techniques are unique to bruce's artistic practice - the detail images show the remarkable level of layered complexity within each artwork. artwork is 100cm x 100cm in four 50cm box framed canvas panels. artwork will be sent with 50cm square pre-drilled plywood panel and screws with instructions for easy assembly. upper two panels will include pre-installed d-rings and hanging cord.
