Wooden or laminate worktops?
Comments (15)Thank you so much, all of you, for your very helpful advice. It's official - I'm going for wood! As well as all your comments, after I got home tonight I (sunflower) oiled all my wooden table and it looked fantastic, so warm & rich in colour. It was the first thing the hubby noticed when he walked through the door so that tells you something! And I thought that if I can just remember to do this every 6 monthly with the worktops then it really will look fabulous. And that's very interesting about what's happened to your laminate edges Chalkandbell, oh and the tip about wiping the edges dry after use. This advice is exactly what I was after - the kitchen companies will always say it's minimal upkeep but I really needed to hear from those who actually work with it every day. Thank you all. Comments (3)Hi Depending on your budget another option is the Granite Transformations product a 6.5mm thick solid surface with a material life time guarantee that is designed to fit on top of your existing worktops. Although, as you have wood worktops which need to be allowed to breathe, we would need to remove your existing wood worktops and replace them with a new substrate. All of this could be done in just one days and usually costs between £2 - £4 thousand pounds. If your budget allows this is definitely the way forward. Good luck. Comments (10)Most worktop suppliers will provide customers with a free sample of worktop providing you don't ask for lots. You can get their information on their websites to request this. In our workshop we have samples of Axiom, Prima, Odyssey, Duropal, Egger and own brands. We are Staffordshire based. Out of all of the above Duropal and Egger are the most boring. There is nothing eye catching in any of their worktops. Prima and Axiom have added some new designs to their ranges but it all depends on whether you want to play safe or dare to be different....See MoreOnePlan
