A photo would help. As the room sounds very neutral you could get away with having some teal in your curtains (patterned or plain) then adding another colour in cushions and accessories. Or you could stick with the neutrals and have a similar shade of curtain to your walls. Depends what kind of look you are after.

Hi Simone, Im so happy to hear you liked the boards (its so much fun creating amazing spaces!) It really depends on how much space you have, how big the chairs are and also if you do end up adding joinery around the fireplace. From what I have seen of your lovely living room, I feel more inclined to go half way with the joinery to create a feeling of space and not to clutter the upper half of the room. A bit like this... Can you see how the top half is filled in with a mirror (if you liked this you could just have two free hanging mirrors - not built in like the ones in this image), but I would definitely build-in the joinery below with the thick shelving as per the image. It adds a nice place for items in a neat way and doesn't feel too oppressive when sitting in the chairs. When it comes to how many chairs to buy - you will need to prioritise how you use the space. Do you often require space for 5-6 people in your living room? You could have two in the "bay" (check sizes though - you don't want them to feel cramped!!) or one larger chair either side of the Wandsworth. Perhaps get two cardboard boxes around 70 x 80 x 80cm and move them around to see if you would like chairs in those spaces. (That is a big chair by the way) I hope that helps? Jo

Ah, can't be sure, but it looks a lot like F&B Pitch Blue. Keep in mind that colours that you see online will most probably look very different in your home, because the light will be different. Also, photos are almost always manipulated, and all screens will give a slightly different image, so even if they mention which paint they've used, it might look different in real life. Best thing is to try a couple of colours out in your room, not smaller than A4 size really, to get a good idea of how it will look. Good luck

In case anyone was interested in what I went for - I decided to trust the good people of the internet and did De Nimes on the walls, and went bold with Downpipe on the chimney breast. Full disclosure - F&B weren't in stock in B&Q in those colours when I went to get them so got the Valspar versions instead, which actually seemed to match the testers well. It took the entirety of this weekend to do (with equal time spent painting and trying to contain the dog away from paint!) but really happy with how it turned out. The fireplace was done at the start of the week, and I'm really pleased with that too It think it looks a lot more finished than before, even if it is only used to store dog toys! It's certainly been a busy week... I'm going to get a large (80cm) gold/brass rimmed circular mirror for the chimney breast. We've already moved the curtain rail into the bay window which helps make the room feel larger as well. Thanks everyone for your opinions - I'm definitely glad on reflection that I didn't go for either of my original picks.
