Need advice on small ensuite layout

I am currently doing a renovation and have had a waste pipe installed in order to add an ensuite to a bedroom, it can only be 1m deep and the width of the room totally is 3.16, there is a large window at approx 40cm from LHS - The 1st fix plumbing and studs have not yet been finalised but are due to be done shortly, I can't figure out where to place a shower! The space is currently intended to be broken in to ensuite and small closet. There is no radiator to contend with as there is UFH. The waste pipe comes from external RHS.

Please help!

As the space is quite restricted I would consider making a wetroom. The shower position will depend on the fall required to drain it. I would consult a plumber at this stage if not already as the ideas you have might not be possible. Function first, then design. The shower can onlly go furthest from the door or you will block the room off and not be able to access the toilet or basin/vanity.

Thanks for your reply - The plumbing isn't an issue, I need to confirm the layout in order for plumbing and studs (as this will finalise the door frame position) but with the window I am a bit stumped about how best to fit everything in.

Hi All - taking on board your comments I have come up with three variations. Of course would love your comments! The distance from vanity to WC in plan 1 is approx 60cm - it could be made a bit more. This falls within the guideline you posted (23inches). More space could be created by making the shower a bit narrower (shown on all 3 plans as 1m wide (39 inches). I don't think there is quite enough space to divide the room and the problem with the idea of the bath right in the middle is that on a practical basis we would have to walk around it on a daily basis to get to the shower! Could quickly get very annoying!

Thanks for taking the time to look at this. I'm happy with the overall layout. I'm just wondering whether we could go longer on the shower tray so it almost spans from wall to wall? the space between the walls is 2070mm which we wouldn't get a standard tray to fit. Think the largest is 1700/1800. This would leave us with some spare space to either just tile the floor or make a false wall with and perhaps put a recessed shelf or space within.

cheers Robert Way Designers. I had considered making a feature which would conceal the waste as it has to run above the joists for a section unfortunately. i'd also like to include some concealed lighting - any advice on what to look for that's suitable for a wetroom/bathroom environment please?

It really comes down to how many clothes you have and how much space you need to store them, along with where you prefer to get dressed and how you use your ensuite - obviously no point having double sink if you never share the bathroom, but if you're brushing your teeth while the other half is doing their thing in the next sink then this bigger ensuite might work better for you. It all depends on how you want to live, how much stuff you have and where you want to store it. Shower furthest from the door. Biggest shower tray you can fit in there complete with glass cubicle. Vanity unit opposite the shower with basin. Looking at it again and considering a toilet against either wall across the 1m wide section I don't think you have room for a vanity or pedestal basin. A wall hung basin would allow more space. Where is the soil pipe? I would seriously consider losing the closet and using all the space for the en-suite.

Does this bedroom have another window an where? And where's the entry door? I'd like to make a floorplan.

Since the room is 3.16m there will be insufficient space for a wardrobe at the foot of the bed. So I agree with Rinked that the Ensuite layout will be dictated by how you plan the bedroom. Personally I image the shower going where you have planned the cupboard, the door to the Ensuite being opposite the window and the wardrobes for the bedroom being where your current plan shows doors to the shower room and cupboard

That last one is what i came up with as well. Trying other layouts, but impossible to continue without knowing other doors/windows. And likely impossible to come up with a better one than Jonathan's.
