small entrance way decor ideas

Hello, so I’ve a new build and I feel the need to spruce up and decorate the stairs and front entrance area. I’m thinking a little wallpaper and paint - thoughts? Ideas? Inspo? Welcome please xx

New builds come with all sorts of challenges and many of our clients also struggle with what to do with the hallway. A hallway is also often the most underappreciated space in the home when it should be setting the scene for the rest of your beautiful space.

Here is a link to our most recent project where we used classical elements such as wainscotting and a dado rail to create a more textured and cosy feel to the space. Do reach out if you'd like some help with this project!

It is a really hard space to work with ours is extremely small yet the stairs are wide and high.thank you for sharing these pics looks great x

Hi Harry. I agree with secret linen store. The photos in your idea book are mainly neutral so if you don't like colour then look at adding different shades of your neutral/s and mix different textures and patterns for cushions and throw. Statement lights be it pendant or table lamp would add interest. Also look at adding the largest mirror you can fit, it will make the room feel a lot bigger. Plants and/or faux stems such as eucalyptus will give it some life. You could also look a feature wall, maybe a textured wallpaper or a pattern if you prefer. A pic would be good for more ideas!

Hi Swiftrt, Because the wall is flush with the doorway on to your kitchen I would be hesitant to build this out too far with a boot rack or coat hooks etc. I like that you've made the most of the overhang from the kitchen alcove - this looks like your best bet for shoe storage. What about a slimline enclosed shoe cabinet here - something like: [Oslo Shoe Cabinet[(https://www.houzz.co.uk/products/oslo-shoe-cabinet-prvw-vr~87946990). For your coats, hats, scarves etc - a rack on the back of the front door or the small wall behind could be a solution. Now for the fun task - because the wall is the first thing that greets you when you arrive home, it should be welcoming and entirely personal. A photo wall - with the addition of some cute prints: Think your favourite city / films / book covers. Add some wall hung plants or a potted floor plant for some vibrancy. How cute! As it’s a woodland area, I think something like bark chippings would work, but I think they’ll look great set within the grass. Really easy to do, just cut round the pavers within the lawn with a knife, then lift the piece of grass with a spade. You need to make sure the pavers are lower than the grass so mowing is easy - just glides over the top. Then do the same into the woodland, making sure they pavers are slightly below the woodland floor. You could then use some bark chippings around the ones in the woodland to gradually blend in.
